Miner Terms of Use

App Description

Miner: Photo & Media Player is the Apple TV and iOS companion for Miner, the self-hosted media server you run on your own computer or NAS. The app connects to your Miner server over your local network and lets you browse and play your photos and videos by date, album, or folder. It streams directly from your server — no cloud and no uploads.

License

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use Miner on devices you own or control, subject to these terms and Apple's App Store rules.

Requirements & Self-Hosting

• Miner requires a running Miner server on your local network. You are responsible for installing, configuring, and operating the server yourself.
• The server uses FFmpeg for scanning, thumbnailing, and serving media. You are responsible for complying with FFmpeg's license terms.
• You are responsible for the media you store on your server and for ensuring you have the rights to view and play it.

Acceptable Use

• Do not misuse the app or attempt to disrupt its operation or your server's operation.
• Do not reverse engineer or redistribute the app except where permitted by law.
• Use the app only to access media you own or are authorized to access.
• Use the app in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Your Content & Backups

Your photos and videos stay on your Miner server and your own hardware. We do not store or back up your media. You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of any media on your server. We recommend keeping regular backups of your library.

No Warranty of Availability

The app depends entirely on your Miner server, your hardware, and your local network. We do not guarantee that the app will be able to connect, stream, or play any specific file. Performance, scanning speed, and playback quality depend on your server's CPU, storage, network speed, and the media's format and bitrate.

Third-Party Software

Miner works with the Miner server and FFmpeg, which are third-party, independently licensed software. These terms apply only to the Miner app. We make no warranty regarding the server, FFmpeg, or any other third-party software you choose to use.

No Professional Advice

Miner is a personal media viewing tool. It does not provide any professional advice of any kind.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Miner and its developers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the app or your server, including but not limited to loss of, corruption of, or inability to access your media.

Termination

You may stop using the app at any time. We may suspend access if you violate these terms or if required by law.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date will reflect the latest version.
