itmux Privacy Policy

itmux is an SSH and tmux terminal client for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It connects to servers you control and helps you attach to real tmux sessions, run commands, edit remote files, and view VNC screens. We take privacy seriously and minimize data collection.

Data We Collect

Connection details you enter: Host addresses, ports, usernames, passwords, and SSH keys are stored locally on your device (in the iOS/macOS Keychain and app storage) so you can reconnect. They are used only to establish your own SSH connections and are never sent to us.
Anonymous install diagnostics: On first launch the app sends a one-time, anonymous ping so we can gauge installs and platform coverage. It includes device model, OS version, app version, preferred language, region, and a randomly generated install identifier. It contains no account, contact, or connection information.
Support correspondence: If you email us for help, we receive whatever details you choose to share and use them only to respond to your request.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not create user accounts.
We do not collect your names, emails (unless you contact us), or phone numbers.
We do not read, store, or transmit the contents of your terminal sessions, files, or notes to our servers. Notes are stored on the remote host you connect to.
We do not track your activity across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use your data for advertising.

Permissions

Network Access: Required to open SSH and VNC connections to the servers you choose.
Microphone & Speech Recognition (optional): Used only when you hold the dictation button to speak a command. Audio is processed to convert speech to text and is not stored or used for any other purpose. If you never use dictation, no audio is captured.
Local Network (optional): May be requested to reach servers on your local network.

Data Storage & Security

SSH keys, passwords, and connection profiles are kept on your device. Sensitive credentials are stored in the Apple Keychain. Your SSH private key never leaves the device; only the public key is shared when you install it on your own servers.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your connection data with third parties. The only network traffic initiated by the app, other than your own SSH/VNC connections, is the one-time anonymous install ping described above and an optional request to list other apps by the same developer.

Children's Privacy

itmux is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest version.
